Motion to Modify started long before there ever was a name for it. It began on quiet nights spent in parking lots, leaning against cars we cared about and listening to the stories behind them. Every scratch, every upgrade, every (not so fun!) late night wrenching session meant something. The builds were never just machines. They were pieces of people, shaped by community, friendship, and the need to belong to something real.
The first time I brought a camera to a meet, it was not to make content. It was to remember what it felt like to be part of a culture that accepted anyone who showed up with respect and passion. What surprised me was how many drivers wanted their cars captured, not because they were perfect, but because they represented a journey. That was when I understood what we were meant to do.
Motion to Modify exists to honor that feeling. I do not just take photos. I listen. I learn the story behind the build, and I document the moments that remind people why they fell in love with cars in the first place. My purpose is simple. To create images that make drivers feel seen and to reflect the culture that raised all of us.
